A quote taken from The Children’s Society website this morning…
“In the last three years, the likelihood of young people having a mental health problem has increased by 50%. Now, five children in a classroom of 30 are likely to have a mental health problem.”
When parents give their child a smartphone as early as 6 years old “to keep them quiet” is it any wonder?
Besides the dangers of radiation penetrating their thin skulls they are transfixed by the magic screen, social media, and games; they descend into a virtual reality only coming up for air at mealtimes, somewhat grudgingly.
Last century the parks were always full of kids running around making friends, playing on swings, slides, roundabouts, having a great time and natural exercise then come home to a good night’s sleep. There were very little mental health issues.
This is an homage to the suburban and city parks that encouraged, play, imagination and real friendships that could last a lifetime.
